Bring me my Machine Gun

It is indeed amazing.
The majority of South Africas (mostly black) think it is a fantastic idea to choose Jacob Zuma as the next president of the ANC, and also as the next president of the country.
What makes this truly amazing is:
* He is still under investigation for Fraud and Corruption
* Although he was found not guilty in a recent rape trial, he made all kinds of strange remarks including the fact that he knowingly slept with an HIV positive woman, without protection. (Then he showered afterwards as a preventative method)
* His favourite song that he sings to his cheering crowds of supporters is loosely translated as "Bring me my machine gun".
At the recent ANC conference where he just got voted in as the next president (of the ANC, but therefore also most likely the country)... he sings this song again! ( news24 - Stop Zuma Anarchists)

In a country with the highest crime rate in the world, should Zuma be convicted on his Fraud and Corruption charges, at least he will be truly representative of the people.

You know it is popular when...
Bring me my machine gun is popular enough with our fellow (mostly black I would assume) South Africans, to warrant the release of the Ring tone: http://thehyrax.vox.com/library/post/bring-me-my-machine-gun-ringtone-now-available.html

Why do you feel the need to give the qualifier that most South Africans are black - twice. It seems you are trying to infer that the poor judgment South Africans may have made RE: Zuma can be explained by their race?

The qualifier is there to indicate the following:

1. Yes, most South Africans are black
2. The mojority of Zuma's support comes from black constituencies. Indeed there is a lot of "white fear" around this Zuma Election. I have been told by countless white people over the past months that they will leave the country should Zuma get elected as president.

The statistics generally show that the majority of black people does want Zuma for President, and also that the majority of white citizens do not.

If not explicit, there is an implicit conclusion that the judgement of the people who have chosen Zuma, should be questioned.

Remember that in neighbouring Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe was also democratically elected initially, and even if adjusting for the recent mass intimidation of voters, he still enjoys significant support amongst his people despite the misery he has brought onto them.

Is there a pattern in there, or is this pure coincidence ?

Although not stated explicitly, I don't think it would be a stretch to conclude that electing Zuma indicates a lapse of judgment on behalf of his supporters - that is if you consider rape, corruption and recently racketeering allegations to be significant.

I'm not sure if their race should be singled out as the cause, however it is a factual part of the reality of this story. (Zuma's supporters really are black)
